Pinterest Tested: Homemade Peanut Butter

Posted on

I have always wanted to make my own peanut butter, but I assumed it was complicated and probably required equipment that I didn’t have. So I was super intrigued by this Pin, which advertised a homemade peanut butter with ONE ingredient in under five minutes!

Overall rating: 10!

Cost: $

Difficulty level: Beginner (scale: beginner, moderate, intermediate, advanced)

Thoughts: Everything she said in her blog post… it’s true! I didn’t need to add any oil, and the peanut butter was SO delicious (certainly MUCH better than the “natural” peanut butters that the store carries, and a more robust, delicious, peanut-ty flavor than your standard peanut butters). And with my Ninja®, this didn’t even take 5 minutes… It took less than TWO! In fact, my peanut butter was done before my bread was even toasted! For me, $7 worth of peanuts yielded 20 oz of peanut butter, which is more expensive than standard peanut butters, but a similar price to natural peanut butters. It is safe to say that I will NOT be buying natural peanut butter from the store anymore. In fact, I don’t even know what to do with the remnants of the jar that I have now!

Final verdict: Seriously, make this. Right now. Unless you are allergic to peanuts. And if you are, I bet it would work with most other types of nuts! Try almonds or cashews, for instance, and let us know if it works! :)

  2. I love that you are so in love with my recipe and gave it a 10!! Woot! And yes, homemade is wayyyyy better tasting than any storebought natural you could buy and most likely cheaper, too. Great to know your Ninja did it in just a few mins! Thanks for posting about it and linking back!

  3. Is the ninja a blender? Do you think it would work in other blenders? Seems worth giving a shot since it doesn’t have other ingredients in it. Thanks for sharing! And yes! Let’s do dinner soon.
